DIY: Fur Gloves, Tis The Season For Furrrrrr.

Fur is always an ongoing winter trend - disappears as soon as the warmer seasons come but always manages to reinvent itself and make a come back during winter. Fur can be dramatic and crazy and be worn as a long length coat or be simplified and just used as accents on your bag, shoes or even jewellery! Let down? Fur can be expensive! Even faux fur items can be pricey! I decided to make a cheap and easy DIY alternative by reinventing my old boring winter gloves.

After I completed this project I was so surprised at how easy and successful it was - if you don't know how to use a sewing machine you can do this project by hand sewing - I've accustomed and completed this project by hand stitch.

Before we continue with the DIY you will need to make this template on a piece of paper

Materials you will need:
- An old pair of gloves
- Faux Fur (I used an old throw rug we had, it would be ideal to use fur with an elastic back so that it will stretch when you put your glove on)
- Needle & Thread (accustomed to the colour of your fur)
- Scissors
- The template you've made

Step One
Fold your fabric in half, pin down the template and cut around it.

You should now have two pieces of fabric.
If you are using a sewing machine zig-zag along the top and bottom edges to stop any fraying from happening. If you are not using a sewing machine either use zig-zag scissors (scissors that cut a zig-zag line, which is usually used for scrap booking, you can find it in the craft area of the dollar store) or manually cut a zig-zag line using ordinary scissors.

Step Two
Fold the strips so that the wrong side is facing you. Along the pink line indicated in the picture straight stitch down to join both ends together. If you are hand sewing perform a back-stitch. Don't know how to do that click here for an easy tutorial.

You should now be left with two cuff-links.

Step Three
Pin the cuff-links over the glove onto the wrist area and sew along the pink lines indicated in picture (back-stitch if you are hand sewing). Make sure to sew from inside the glove so that no threads will be seen.

You have now completed a simple and easy winter trend that will definitely be used this winter season and many more winter seasons to come!

I would also like to make a quick shout out to my friend Super Mom! for the new header she made for my blog. Isn't the cutest thing ever?
