His Old Pajama Shirt = Four New Items In My Wardrobe! Part Dos - Bows for her.

Hello! How'd you all go with Part Uno? If you guys haven't checked it out check it out HERE.
I will now continue with Part Dos, using one of the sleeves you had put aside. Now this DIY doesn't have to be restricted to just a sleeve of a top. You can use any fabric that catches your eye; I have just accustomed this DIY to try and make the most out of my fashion find.

Inspiration was formed from one of my favourite things in the fashion world... BOWS! Bows bows all types of bows. The thing I love about bows so much? They're so versatile! Think about it: bows can be girly, added on to jewellery, handbags, belts, etc. Even men wear bow ties. This generation is going as far as creating an entire hairstyle as a giant bow.

This tutorial is made so you can make both bow hair accessories or bow brooches. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and are able to make your own signature bow.

Before we continue with the tutorial using the diagrams I've provided please make a template for your bow using a piece of paper, a marker and a ruler.

Template One

Template Two

Materials You Will Need:
  • One Sleeve or your Fabric
  • Your Templates you've made
  • Scissors
  • Glue Gun
  • Hair Comb Clip (Bought from The Dollar Store)
  • Brooch Backs (Bought from most craft stores, this one is from Spotlight)

STEP ONE
Pin and cut your template out on your fabric.

STEP TWO
On your Template One piece of fabric that you cut, fold over and glue the sides 1cm on the wrong side of the fabric. This will give it a nice clean edge.

STEP THREE
Determine the center of the fabric and fold and glue both sides to the middle.
After you've done this put Template One aside.

STEP FOUR
Now onto your Template Two fabric that you've cut out.
Indicated in the picture, fold and glue both edges to the center of the wrong side of the fabric.

STEP FIVE
Place Template One on top of Template Two with the glued side facing you.
Indicated in the picture, squeeze and fold the center of Template One.

STEP SIX
To secure the center you've squeezed fold and glue the top and bottom of Template Two.

STEP SEVEN
To make a brooch, just glue the brooch back on top, covering all the folding and gluing of the bow.

STEP EIGHT
To make a hair accessory, glue gun the Hair Comb on top, covering all the folding and gluing of the bow.

YAY! You have now made a brooch/hair accessory! I went a bit cray cray because they were so fricken adorable and used a lot of my spare fabrics lying around the house and made a bajillion of these things.

Don't limit yourself, badazzle it up with some pearls, studs or beads

Those spare buttons you get when you buy a coat? Glue em on!

I hope this quick and easy DIY has inspired you to be crafty and make a creation customized to your style. Don't limit yourself, remember if you can dream it... you can make it!
