Toothpicks can be used for more than just getting the pestering food from your teeth. I've made an easy DIY Tutorial on how you can change an everyday item into a fashion accessory.
Inspired: My husband carries toothpicks in his pockets everywhere we go (which isn't amusing when you're doing laundry and he forgets to take them out - ouch!), inspired by this (ikr), bamboo designs, Angelina Jolies stellar sophistication and the trend of black fashion, I have designed these cool (pretty cool, I have to admit) fashion earrings.
Verdict: At first I was worried that it wouldn't work out, but now... I'm in love! It was so simple and easy, I couldn't wait to wear them out!
- Ruler
- Led Pencil
- Scissors
- Acrylic Paint (Colour of your choice, I chose black)
- Good Industrial Glue
- Post Earrings
- Toothpicks (I had 24, 12 for each earring)
- Paint Brush (sorry unorganized me didn't put it in the photo)
Step One
Using your ruler and pencil, mark a line to indicate where you will cut the sharp ends off on the toothpicks.
Using your scissors, cut on the marked lines. |
Step Two
Paint two coats of paint on each toothpick, make sure you allow it to dry in between each coat.
Step Three
Using a clean brush, glue the toothpicks together. I glued 12 together for each earring.
Step Four
Glue the post earrings down on the back of each earring on the top center.
Step Five
I painted one last coat of paint.
Let it dry over night so that it becomes more sturdy (I nearly made the mistake of wearing it after only 1 hr of drying).
YAY! You've now made these funky and sheik earrings.
Hope you enjoy wearing them as much as I enjoyed making them. Be ready to see eyes go wide when you tell them they're made from toothpicks.
Styling.
Amazing how you can make recreate something by thinking as if there is no box right?
