An easy DIY on how you can make your own Embellished Hair Pin.
Inspired: Recently I've been getting back into watching my Korean Dramas and finally re-watched an old favourite "Princess Hours". It's about if Korea still had their Royal family today, and about a happy go lucky, average teenage girl finding out she is promised to marry the hootie tootie prince. It's about those two people, who hate each other and eventually fall in love with one another - basically, it's a Cinderella Story.
Anyway (I've got to stop myself, once I start on Korean Dramas... I find it hard to stop), not only do I love this drama for the storyline, I love it for the fashion. I swear everything the main girl wears... I want! Her outfits are always rich, covered in lace, frills, embellished... everything that makes my skin get goosebumps when it comes to fashion (and in a good way!). She often wears such gorgeous hair pieces and I was inspired to create one of my own.
A video I found on Youtube which pretty much sums up her cute outfits on the show.
Verdict: I love this piece, it's perfect for all seasons and I can't wait to wear this!
Materials You Will Need:
- Scissors
- Felt - Depending on the colours of your beads, I chose a lot of white and pink beads = white felt.
- Lace Trimming - Spare from my material trunk.
- Hair Clip - Dollar Store
- Various beads and gems for embellishments - Dollar Store
- Glue Gun
I first assembled my design of the hair pin before any gluing happens. I decided on a tear drop shape, and used a fabric rose as my focal point.
Step Two
Once I decided on my final design I then glued it onto my piece of felt. Make sure to press the beads down hard.
Step Three
I then cut the design out as close to the beads as possible.
Step Four
Turning the piece to the wrong side, I then glued my lace trimming around the edges of the design - this is optional, but I put two layers of the lace because I wanted a more fuller effect.
Step Five
I then opened up my hair clip and glued it down onto the back of the piece - Make sure that the clip is open when you glue it down.
TIP: To let the beads last longer, paint a layer of clear nail polish over the beads once it's all complete and allow to dry.
YAY! We are now done with our Princess Hours Hair Pin! |
