2 Months postpartum - Madeleine and My development

Madeleine has turned 2 months on Saturday the 19th, it's amazing how much she's developed in such a short period of time. It seems weird to think just 2 months ago I was in a labour room pushing out this baby that didn't even know she had limbs and now she's laughing at her toys and trying to push herself up in a sitting position.
It's as if time has gotten slower but her development has become way too quick for me to even grasp hold of whats going on.

Within this last month I've noticed Maddy do a few things, she now:
  • Attempts to hold her own bottle, I guess the little piggy is scared we'll take her meal away from her.
  • Falls asleep on her own if settled.
  • She now takes small 1hr naps at a time during the day and then an 8hr straight sleep at night.
  • Interacts for longer and more frequent periods.
  • She settles and loves the sound of music (in particular Alicia Keys, Pitch Perfect Soundtrack and anything 2ne1 and Big Bang related).
  • She laughs A LOT.
  • She now focuses a lot on certain objects, she's grown fond of her toys that dangle on her rocker and her mobile above her cot.
  • She is able to hold her own head and has discovered the strength of her arms and legs.
  • She tries to push herself up into a sitting position quiet often.
  • Turns her head towards familiar sounds and voices.

She now recognizes myself and her fathers voice, I've noticed when she's fussy and crying as soon as she hears our voices she stops and calms herself, of course if we don't come to her aid afterwards she then continues to cry.

I've found Maddy to be a really good baby, she sleeps often, only cries when she needs something and if all the boxes are ticked she's calm and able to entertain herself. She's only really fussy when she's hungry or overly tired, apart from that she's a happy chap. It's funny cause you always have to check her nappy because she's so chilled out about having a dirty nappy.
In saying that she is a very noisy baby, not in terms of crying, but it seems my daughter has to have a sound effect for everything, if she needs to burp it's the loudest burp in the world, she makes the loudest pushing noises in the midst of doing a number 2 and of course when she's falling asleep she has to make the loudest sigh ever. Haha.

For myself in terms of postpartum weight, during my pregnancy I had gained all together 12kgs, straight away after giving birth I had lost 7kgs and now that all the fluid is gone I have lost all the weight I gained during my pregnancy. Now I just want to lose weight that I had accumulated before my pregnancy over a couple of years.
I've found that my hips are still wide and don't expect them to retract back to their original size for another 7 months.
I did break out because of hormones after giving birth but that has subsided now.
My stitches from tearing are completely healed.
During my pregnancy I had gotten such healthy strong thick hair and now it's gotten back to it's lifeless weak self, but I'm thinking of taking vitamins and I am using oils to try and solve that.
I have found that my hair is growing faster than ever, and not just on my head, I mean everywhere, I am shaving far more often than I had to during my pregnancy. Haha.
In terms of postpartum emotionally... I feel like I'm coping really well. The first few weeks I was going through what you would call "baby blues", I didn't want to get out of bed and I felt like me and Maddy were strangers to one another, it got pretty crazy to the point that I suddenly cried while we were eating dinner. But the dr had said it's completely normal and it's only a concern if it lasts for more than a month. 2 months have gone by and I've never felt better. Of course I have a wonderful supportive husband and a beautiful easy going baby to thank for.

Well I'll leave the rest of this post with a few photos and a video taken of Maddy and her father having playtime together.
Adios! xoxo Vanessa

Blowing out a cake for Maddy's 2months.
Madeleine developing her gross-motor skills. Grabbing and holding objects.
Madeleine attempting to hold her own bottle during her feed.
My little sleeper doing a curtsy during her nap.
I think I've taken so many pictures of her she actually recognizes the camera.
I thought I'd just post up this picture because she looks cute!
