His Old Pajama Shirt = Four New Items In My Wardrobe Part Tres - Usamimi Scrunchy

Welcome to the last segment of "His Old Pajama Shirt = Four New Items In My Wardrobe" saga. It had been a very fun and wonderful journey for myself. I took up a challenge and came out with four new items to play with. If you haven't seen the first two parts of this saga please click Part Uno and Part Dos!

I have to admit out of all the things I've made in this project, this DIY was the most challenging to work out. After a few trial and errors, I was finally able to make an easy DIY Usamimi Scrunchy Tutorial.

Pictures taken from the Louis Vuitton website and Tumbler
This tutorial rooted from the inspiration of the ongoing trend of the Usamimi Headband. This trend has literally traveled around the world. Starting from the streets of Tokyo, spreading through Asian, traveled all the way to the runways of the Louis Vuitton Fashion Show, and will now end it's journey in your home as you create this DIY.

Okay before we continue with this DIY, on a piece of paper you will need to draw up and cut the template (because you all know how I love making you guys do this).

Materials You Will Need:
  • The last sleeve on your mans shirt or the fabric of your choice.
  • A pair of scissors
  • Pins
  • Thread and needle matching your fabric.
  • Your templates
  • Elastic 10 cm long (No you're not blind, I forgot to put it there. Haha)

Step One
Pin and cut your templates out on your sleeve/fabric

Step Two - Preparing The Ears
Laying the 'Ears Strip' vertical, fold it in half so the wrong side of the fabric is facing you. Sew according to the picture.

Step Three - Preparing The Ears
Turn it inside out.
On both ends of the strip, tuck in a corner and sew it in place, as is indicated in the picture.

Step Four - Preparing The Scrunchy

Laying the 'Scrunchy Strip' vertically, fold it in half - so the wrong side is facing you, sew it in place, as shown in the picture.

Step Five - Preparing The Scrunchy
Turn the strip inside out and thread through your elastic band. Once you've threaded it through sew both elastic ends together.

Step Six - Preparing The Scrunchy

Using your needle and thread, sew the scrunchy closed, making sure you don't sew the elastic inside to the scrunchy.

After sewing your scrunchy band should look like this.

Step Seven - Putting it together

Tie your 'Ear Strip' to the scrunchy, making sure to cover the sewing parts.

Yay! You have now made an Usamimi Scrunchy! Put it on to jazz up that pony-tail and work it girl!

I hope you have all been inspired to make an Usamimi Scrunchy to add to your wardrobe. If you happen to do this DIY, tag me on Instagram with @lifeaccording2vanessa
